A Certified Nursing Assistant performs many basic care tasks for residents including all Activities of Daily Living (ALDs) such as transfers, grooming, dressing, bathing, eating and exercising. They also assist the nursing staff with medical tasks like emptying foley catheters, measuring intake/output, monitoring vitals with medical equipment and reporting patient behavior and wellbeing.

Responsibilities for the position include :
Provide direct resident care and physical support for residents, as directed by the RN/LPN, with all activities of daily living including but not limited to personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, - using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
Recording weights, intake and output, and vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested and report changes in condition to nurse.
Document in the medical record according to established procedures.
Deliver resident nourishments and assist with feeding as needed, fill water pitchers, and assist to pass and collect meal trays on the unit as directed.
Provide feedback to the RN/LPN regarding resident care and reporting changes in resident status in timely manner.
Maintain an environment conducive to resident safety and recovery including, but not limited to, completing safety checks, keeping the department and resident rooms clean and organized, cleaning department specific equipment, changing bed linens, emptying linen hampers, keeping hallways clear of equipment and returning equipment to proper storage.
Timely responds to resident needs and calls in timely manner including call bell response and communicating needs to RN/LPN as needed.
Acquire and distribute all necessary supplies and equipment to facilitate proper resident care delivery including, but not limited to setting up resident care equipment within the scope of the nursing assistant position, stocking resident rooms and supplying unit supply areas.
Establish appropriate and effective communication strategies with the residents and nursing team while fostering professional and respectful interpersonal relationships.
Contribute to the universal unit activities including, but not limited to answer phone calls and transporting residents on and off the unit.
